Beautiful fish Tales

Ogeechee Riverkeeper will hold a brand new Oyster Roast fundraising event with corporate sponsor Fish Tales at Fort McAllister Marina, 3203 Fort McAllister Road in Richmond Hill, from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.

As guests enjoy a beautiful view of the historical Ogeechee River, they’ll feast on gulf oysters provided by Central Seafood. A sampling of local oyster clusters also will be available for patrons to try. In addition, Southern Eagle Distributing will supply beer, and local musician Chuck Courtenay will provide the evening’s soundtrack.

Fish Tales is right at the end of the waterway’s seven-mile bend, just a few miles from the Intercostal Waterway and Ossabaw Sound, and a 12-minute boat ride from Coffee Bluff in Savannah. Proceeds from this event will go toward the Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, preserve, and improve the water quality of the Ogeechee River basin.

Ogeechee Riverkeeper Emily Markesteyn Kurilla recently presented owners Butch and Sherri Broome with a plaque recognizing Fish Tales at Fort McAllister Marina as the organization’s 2016-2017 Corporate Sponsor.

This fundraising event will feature live music, an old-fashioned oyster steaming demonstration, and a discussion on local oysters with an expert from the University of Georgia. ORK encourages all local residents to come out and support a great regional cause while enjoying an array of oysters and the unique Fish Tales dining experience, offering a beautiful view of the sunset on the Ogeechee River. Other food options will be available for “land lubbers, ” and several great prizes will be raffled off.
